2002-02-10 9:21 a.m. Moving Right Along Moving Right Along... Still getting tons of hits. Still 6 tube tops. I guess this was a harder request than I realized. But I haven't given up! I have faith! I have promises from many so I am sure they will come. Well due to circumstances beyond our control, We FINALLY were able to use the elevator last night. Yes folks, last night was a wonderful time had by all. First, I made baked haddock for dinner with buttered noodles and peas. We had a drink and then came the moment of truth. After 2+ years of me sleeping upstairs and hubby grounded to the first floor kitchen, we spent a good part of the evening going up and down, up and down, up and down. Then we got off the elevator. Ha! I know where YOUR minds were! Caught ya, didn't I, you pervs! I had forgotten, (or tried to) how fantastic it is to just lay in bed watching TV with my head on his chest. I felt better while doing that than I have felt in months. At least for a few moments, I forgot that he has no legs and I am facing surgery. It was very nice. We really aren't supposed to be using the elevator yet. The doors that were ordered, (and we painted already) had to come off. The architect screwed up and had delivered fire doors. By safety code, they have to be electronic. So the doors and the casing had to come off. When they went to put the electronic ones up, they opened the wrong way. So we will wait till next week for the new electronic doors. That, I can do. This thing is great! When it is all together and done, you will not be able to open the door unless the platform is there. This is great since we have the little ones here visiting quite a bit. The 4 year old, (Deja) would be on it ever chance she got. Another safety feature built in is that even though there is no chance of it happening, if ANYTHING or ANYONE were to be inside on the bottom floor and the lift were to come down, it has another sensor that stops the whole thing if the bottom touches anything like a broom, or a grandchilds head. So for the next week, at least, NO grandchild is allowed upstairs to the bathroom without adult supervision. All that's upstairs now is a big hole with the shaft in it. Yup, hubby got the elevator, I got the shaft! (Do I smell corn?) All in all we had a pretty good week. I'm glad I started the quest, as it is keeping me busy checking my e-mails, site stats and guestbook entries. I need to be busy now. Even though you make a decision that you know is right and the best one for you, it doesn't take away the apprehension and slight fear. So, keep those coming for the next 9 days, ok? Thanks. Later...
