The Morning After..

Well, yesterday was a blast. My sister, Buella and her hubby, Den got here around 11:30 and we did the catchup thingy and drank coffee and finally took of for Foxwoods. As far as my gambling goes, I posted last night. You can read about it HERE

But is was fun. I love going to places like that because I am a people watcher by nature. It amazes me. There are tons of little old men and women that sit at these machines with a death grip on their buckets of quarters. Many have a cigarette hanging out of their mouth and a look of stern intent on their faces. Some have a fancy little intoxication beverage next to them too. They GIVE you drinks as long as you are playing. You just know that when they leave and go home that a transformation takes place on the way back to there house. They arrive at home, take a quick shower to rinse the smoke and dirty money smell off their body, put on their grandparent face and are all old and wise and nurtuing by the time the grandkids get there to be plied with milk and cookies. If some of these kids saw Grandma two hours before, they would run off screaming with thoughts of the wicked witch in Hansel and Gretle running through their heads. I am ashamed to say, I was one of those Grandmas. But the Pina Colada's were yummy! I only had 2 and I wasn't driving.

Here is another little ancedote for you to giggle about. Foxwoods is huge. It is so huge that when you go into the ladies room, you can exit one of two ways. Nobody told me that. So Buella and I go to the little girls room, come out and spent 10 minutes trying to figure out where we were. I thought we had entered a time warp continuem and had exited into the future... or the past...

Luckily little sister finally realized we had gone out the wrong door. Hey, what can I tell you? Both entrances had the exact same mirror on the wall at both sides. They should have a sign on the wall.

"You have entered at the East side of the bathroom. Do not leave on the West side of the bathroom or you will be lost and made to feel like an idiot."

We had a good time anyway. They almost broke even. We got there at approximately 1:30 and left at 6:00. After 4 1/2 hours, they were down about $24.00 plus the $20.00 they gave me. Not to bad for a day out.

They were happy with the results. Terry had decided not to go. He vegged out on the couch most the day. Then on the way home, we got lost. Now I am not taking full responsibility for this either. When you leave Foxwoods, there are about 6 different ways out of the parking garage and lot. The odds were not in my favor at all yesterday. We ended up on this little country road in the middle of nowhere. I called Terry on the cellphone and told him we were lost. He said not to worry. My brother-in-law is a truckdriver, so he would get us home. Ok. Now no disrespect intended here guys, but does that mean that truckdirvers have an acute sense of direction when in a town they have never been in their life? Or does is simply mean that truckdrivers get lost so much that they are used to it? Hmmm. Well, he was right either way. The ever knowing ever intellegent (Megellan would be proud) Den spoke! His wisdom still amazes me this morning as I reflect on his astounding decision. He lifted his head to the skies and spoke with the wisdom of Moses.

"Turn around and go back where we came from."

We did, we got home and we all lived happily ever after. Ooops, wrong story.

We were starving by the time we got back to my house. Ben and Buella treated us to take-out. 2 Poo-poo platters, a large shrimpfried rice and a large pork fried rice. That and a big pot of coffee and we all dug in. It was scrumptious!

About 8:00 they decided to hit the road back to Maine. They planned to find a little motel on the way and then do the tourist/yardsale/fleamarket thing on the way home. I haven't heard from her yet, but they will e-mail when they get back to Maine.

All in all it was a great day. I had a blast. Thank you Ben and Buella. Next time the food's on us!

Today I get to do Big sister and her hubby's taxes. They will be here shortly. Imagine how impressed they will be when I put out a Chinese feed for dinner. Hey, they don't have to know they're leftovers do they?

Later,,,

Later,
Cosmic
